OPEN GEAR GREASE LUBRICANT
Description
HOLD FIRM is a dark black bentonite grease lubricant , formulated for heavy industrial
applications. HOLD FIRM is designed mainly for the open gear application, but because
of its extreme tackiness and extreme pressure characteristics lends itself to many different
applications.
Composition
HOLD FIRM is made from mid-continent refined base oils and bentonite gelling
agents. This excellent grease lubricant is formulated with sub-micron size molybdenum disulphide.
It is fortified with extreme pressure additives, anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation inhibitors
and tackifiers to provide excellent lubrication properties and anti-wear protection to metal
surfaces. These additives also provide for a very stable grease lubricant .
Performance Characteristics
HOLD FIRM is a proven lubricant for fifth wheel and open gear applications.
Because of its non-melt characteristics, it will withstand high-temperature operations. This
product offers excellent adhesion to metal. Its tackiness additives provide the metal
protection against acids, alkalies, dust and dirt. HOLD FIRM with its spatter proof
characteristics, also provides outstanding water resistance, protection under acidic
conditions and the ability to adhere and not be thrown off. Because of its film strength,
this product will last longer and require less frequent lubrication.
The extreme pressure additives provide E.P. characteristics and additional
protection against oxidation. The MoS2 provides additional lubricity and extreme pressure
protection by actually plating out on the surfaces, thereby greatly reducing friction and
giving excellent high shock load protection.
Typical Applications
HOLD FIRM is formulated with the open gear in mind, but it can be used almost
anywhere grease lubricant is required. It has numerous applications in steel mills, construction
equipment, transportation companies, cotton gins, lumber mills and other places. It can
also be used on open winches, drag lines or sliding surfaces. It can be applied with a
paddle or is available in caulk tubes for easier application.
